Did you know today was Women’s Enterprise Day, a day designed to galvanise budding female entrepreneurs and employees across the UK to think big and aim high, despite the difficult economic climate.
The day is well supported by female entrepreneurs including Penny Newman, Chief Executive of Fifteen, and C4 Secret Millionaire Margaret Heffernan. Jacqueline Gold, Chief Executive of Ann Summers, says: “I feel passionately about encouraging female enterprise. When I started out at 21 there were very few businesswomen and today there still aren’t as many as there should be. Women’s Enterprise Day not only encourages women to succeed in business, it inspires them to follow their dreams and goals and put their great ideas into action.”
Alex Ritchie, Women’s Enterprise Campaigner at Make Your Mark, says: “Women’s Enterprise day empowers more women to make their ideas a reality, by highlighting the inspirational achievements of the UK’s many success stories and by giving them the information they need to make their mark.
“This year we’re encouraging women to aim high and think big when setting up in business, growing existing ventures or as employees. From ideas yet to be launched to kitchen table businesses, we’d like them all to consider their growth potential and, who knows, some may even end up as global empires!”
