Living Life On Your Terms

I’m just back from a 5 day break to Disneyland Paris, and what a fantastic time we all had. As we drove back towards Calais yesterday I recalled that this was the exact reason why I wanted to be self employed. To live life on my terms.

A few years ago my pace of life was way too fast and I spent far too much time doing things I didn’t really want to be doing and very little time following my dreams.
I was working in adult education and with three children felt stressed and tired most of the time. When I became pregnant with my fourth child something just had to give. I was spending more than two hours a day commuting to and fro the college and I could no longer manage to keep all the balls up in the air.

It was time to do something for myself and I trained as a coach with The Coaching Academy. That’s only the start of the story, what I hadn’t realised was, despite having a distinction and an advanced coaching qualification I had no idea how to get any clients let alone set up a business.

My coach training gave me a distinct advantage over many of the other 620, 000 women who also set up in business each year– I knew how to set effective goals. I also spent a huge amount of time knowing and understanding my own personal values and what was truly important to me in life, I’d worked on my own self limiting beliefs and knew my personal strengths.

So I set myself some powerful goals, identifying where I wanted to be in 1, 2 and 5 years time and set out to achieve them. After all if you don’t know where you are heading, how are you ever going to get there?

In my fr** report, 7 Reasons Why Small Businesses Fail And How YOU Can Avoid Them, I go into more detail as to why goal setting is crucial. (To receive your copy, just send me an email info@allisonmarlowe.com with FR** report in the header)

How do I know these answers? Well, for the past four years I’ve studied the habits of successful people, had the opportunity to pick the brains of Jonathon Jay the original founder of The Coaching Academy and had the privilege to dine with the likes of Brian Tracy, author of Goals and one of America’s leading authorities on the development of human potential and personal effectiveness.

This week I’ve continued living my dream, to be able to take time out of my business to spend quality, fun time with my family, living life and enjoying the pleasures my children consistnetly bring.
